Explore Our Gene Panels

Genseq's gene panel tests are based on a high-quality whole exome sequencing assay followed by in silico gene panel analysis. We currently offer a range of gene panels across 2 clinical specialties, cardiology and hereditary cancer. Explore our gene panels by clicking on the relevant specialty below:

We are continuously evolving panel based testing into other disease areas, if you have a clinical need for a specific area, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

What Is A Gene Panel Test?

A gene panel is a collection of genes, associated with a particular disease or phenotype, that have been grouped together to enable their simultaneous testing. Gene panels can contain anything from two to thousands of genes.

At Genseq we use in silico panels based on whole exome sequencing (WES) data.

Why Should I Order A Gene Panel Test For My Patient?

Gene panels offer a fast, focused, and cost-effective solution for your genetic testing needs. They can help you to:

  1. Investigate the genetics underlying your patient’s disease or phenotype
  2. Establish, confirm, or exclude a diagnosis for your patient.
  3. Understand genetic risk factors for your patient and their family.
  4. Make informed and personalised treatment decisions for your patient.
  5. Analyse multiple clinically relevant genes simultaneously, making it a fast and cost-effective solution when compared to multiple rounds of single-gene testing.
  6. Focus your analysis on clinically relevant genes, thereby reducing the number of variants of unknown significance (VUS) to interpret.
  7. Analyse single nucleotide variants (SNV), small insertions/deletions (indels) and copy number variation (CNV) in a single test.

How We Created Our Gene Panel Test?

The genes on each of our panels were carefully selected by a team of PhD-level Scientists and Clinical Geneticists after thorough review of OMIM, ClinVar, PanelApp, and the scientific literature, with a major focus on genes that are clinically relevant. Our team continuously monitors all relevant sources to ensure our panels remain as up-to-date and clinically relevant as possible.
