About Hereditary Prostate Cancer
Hereditary prostate cancer (HPCa) is cancer caused by gene variants that are passed down from parents to their children. HPCa is often associated with earlier onset of the disease and a higher risk of more aggressive forms compared to non-hereditary prostate cancer. It is estimated to account for 5–15% of all prostate cancer cases. Key genes associated with HPCa include genes associated with DNA repair, such as BRCA1/2,ATM and CHEK2.
