Methylation profiling is a cutting-edge analysis technique that focuses on specific methylation patterns in an individual's DNA. This analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of how DNA is modified through the addition of methyl groups to cytosine residues within CpG dinucleotides, revealing crucial regulatory mechanisms within the genome. The genome-wide methylation screening array used at Genseq targets over 935,000 CpG sites in the most biologically significant regions of the human methylome, including CpG islands, DNase hypersensitivity sites, miRNA promoter regions, enhancers, super-enhancers and CTCF-binding domains.
