Genetic Counselling

Genetic Counselling Services

Genetic test results can be challenging to interpret due to their complexity, variability, and uncertain implications. As part of the Genseq holistic offering to support the clinician, the patient and their families, we offer access to an established Genetic Counselling Service for all patients who require support in preparing for or interpreting their genetic test*. Genetic counselling is an essential service that helps individuals and families understand their genetic risks, make informed decisions, and manage hereditary conditions.

Clinicians can refer their patient either pre or post testing into our genetic counselling service.

A genetic counsellor is a healthcare professional who specialises in:
  • Assessing genetic risks
  • Interpreting genetic tests

Their role is a blend of medicine, science, psychology, and ethics, ensuring that patients understand their genetic risks and make informed decisions.

All Genetic Counsellors that are available through our referral programme are registered under one of the following programmes:
  • Genetic Counsellor Registration Board (GCRB) Registration
  • Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registration
  • European Board of Medical Genetics (EBMG) Registration
